Privacy Policy
Effective July 5, 2026
PassPatte inc. (“PassPatte”, “we”) operates the mobile app and the passpatte.ca website (the “Service”). Protecting your personal information matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and what your rights are.
PassPatte is a health record and reminder service for pets. It does not provide veterinary advice.
1. Person responsible for personal information
PassPatte inc. is responsible for the personal information it holds. In accordance with Quebec’s Law 25, a person is in charge of the protection of personal information and can be reached at bonjour@passpatte.ca.
2. Information we collect
• Account: display name, email address, language, and optionally city/region, profile photo and phone number.
• Pets and health record: name, species, breed, sex, date of birth, weight, vaccines, treatments, visits, lab results, notes, allergies, feeding, and the photos and documents you add.
• Household and sharing: your household members and pets shared with other accounts (via invite code).
• Sitting module: if you are an owner, the care-sheet information shared with a sitter; if you are a sitter, your public profile (bio, approximate city, services, rates, photos) and your bookings.
• Location: approximate position for nearby discovery and, during a tracked stay, the GPS route of walks — with your permission.
• Sitting payments: processed by Stripe; we do not store your card number.
• Subscription: your Free or Premium status (purchases are managed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play).
• Technical data: logs, device identifiers for notifications, and operational information.
3. AI record import
When you use AI import, the photo or document you submit is analyzed by an artificial-intelligence service to extract structured entries that you then confirm. Images are not kept after processing, unless you explicitly consent to help improve the feature — an optional consent you can withdraw at any time.
4. Purposes
We use your information to: create and manage your account; keep the health record and send you reminders; enable family sharing and pet sharing; run the Sitting module (matching, care sheet, tracking, payment); show nearby pet-friendly places; ensure security and prevent fraud and abuse; and meet our legal obligations.
5. Basis and consent
We process your information with your consent and to deliver the Service you request. Some features (location, notifications, consent to AI improvement) are optional and enabled only with your agreement.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell your information. We share it only: with your household members and the accounts you share a pet with; with a sitter, limited to the frozen care sheet you agree to share; with our providers that host and operate the Service; and where required by law.
Providers: Supabase (data hosting), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (Sitting payments), Anthropic (AI analysis of imports), Google (maps and places), Apple and Google (app distribution and subscriptions).
7. The Sitting module and cross-household sharing
A sitter never has live access to your record. They receive a frozen copy (the care sheet) of information useful for the pet’s safety, only for the duration and scope of the booking. PassPatte facilitates matching and payment but is not a party to the sitting service.
8. Transfers outside Quebec
Our providers may process or store information outside Quebec, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure this information receives adequate protection.
9. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active, then for as long as needed for the purposes described or as required by law. You can delete your account in the app; your personal data is then deleted or anonymized, subject to legal obligations.
10. Security
Your information is hosted securely, with encryption in transit and access control. No system is perfectly secure, but we aim for Law 25 compliance and apply reasonable measures. In the event of a confidentiality incident posing a risk of serious harm, we will take the required steps, including any notices provided for by law.
11. Your rights
You may access your information, correct it, withdraw your consent, request its portability and delete your account. For any request, write to bonjour@passpatte.ca. If you are not satisfied, you may file a complaint with Quebec’s Commission d’accès à l’information (CAI).
12. Cookies
The passpatte.ca website uses only what is strictly necessary to function (for example, remembering your language) and does not use advertising cookies. The app uses local storage for your session and preferences.
13. Children’s information
The Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from people who have not reached the age of majority.
14. Changes
We may update this policy. If there is a significant change, we will notify you through the Service or by email. The “effective” date above indicates the latest version.
